Adilabad: Cadres of BRS submitted representations to statues of Dr BR Ambedkar in protest of arrests of Lagacharla farmers, in different parts of erstwhile Lagacharla district on Tuesday.
In Adilabad town, cadres led by former minister Jogu Ramanna submitted the representations to a statue of Ambedkar. Ramanna said that the government was adopting anti-farmer policies and was acting inhumanly against farmers. He flayed it for registering cases against the farmers of Lagacharla opposing acquisition of lands for setting up a pharma village.
Cadres of the party took part in similar events held in Nirmal, Asifabad and Mancherial towns. They demanded the government to withdraw the cases and to release the farmers who were arrested, at the earliest. They cautioned that they would intensify a stir against it if the government continued to harass farmers of Lagacharla.
