Adilabad: District Collector Sikta Patnaik was all praise for Mukhra (K) village in Echoda mandal for making profits through production of vermicompost. She was presented a bag of vermicompost by sarpanch Gadge Meenakshi in Adilabad on Thursday.
Sikta patted Meenakshi for leading rural civic bodies by example for making Mukhra (K) a model village in the district. She appreciated her for venturing into making vermicompost fertilizer in Telangana for the first time. She suggested heads of other villages to draw inspiration from Meenakshi in effectively implementing various schemes of the government.
It may be recalled that the IAS officer issued an order asking villages to buy the fertilizer from Mukhra to raise nurseries. Meenakshi said that the village had earned Rs 75,000 by selling the bags. Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh was also all praise for this village for manufacturing of organic fertilizers and for registering 100 percent toilets during a national-level video conference held in November last.
