Adilabad: Activists of Dalit organisations staged a protest at Utnoor mandal centre on Monday, demanding Rs 20 lakh compensation and a government job for the family of Forest Beat Officer (FBO) Waghmare Goutham, who died by suicide at Gottipatar village in Utnoor mandal recently.
The activists said Goutham’s death had left his family without a breadwinner and pushed them into hardship. They urged the Forest Department to extend Rs 20 lakh in compensation and provide employment to one of the family members.
Representatives of the organisations held discussions with officials at the Utnoor Forest Range Office, pressing for immediate financial support to Goutham’s family. They also spoke to District Forest Officer B Prashant Patil over the phone and conveyed their demands.
The activists later withdrew their protest after officials assured them that compensation would be sanctioned and necessary support extended to the bereaved family. They thanked the officials for responding positively to their appeal.
