Adilabad farmer arrested for growing banned ganja with pigeon pea
Adilabad police arrested a man for cultivating banned ganja as an intercrop in his pigeon pea field at Ashoda village. Acting on a tip-off, they seized 160 plants worth Rs 16 lakh. The accused admitted to growing the crop to earn easy money.

Adilabad: Police arrested a man for allegedly cultivating banned ganja as an intercrop in his pigeon pea field at Ashoda village in Adilabad Rural mandal on Thursday. They seized 160 ganja plants worth Rs 16 lakh from his possession.
The accused, identified as Meshram Bujanga Rao, was apprehended following a tip-off. Police said he confessed to growing the contraband crop to make quick money. They warned of stern action against anyone cultivating ganja and stated that welfare scheme benefits would be withheld from such offenders.
Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan commended Rural Inspector K. Phanidhar, Sub-Inspector (SI) Vishnu Vardhan, and their staff for arresting Bujanga Rao.
