Adilabad: To deflect the blame from the State government, the police on Sunday claimed that farmer Rathod Gokul Das from Lingojiguda village in Utnoor mandal ended his life after becoming addicted to liquor and also due to family disputes.
In a statement, Utnoor Inspector G Mogili alleged that Gokul Das resorted to the drastic step because he was addicted to alcohol and also claimed that he was depressed after being reprimanded by his wife.
“He was quarrelling with his wife under the influence of liquor. He was borrowing loans to buy alcohol,” the officer said in the statement. Gokul Das had consumed pesticide and went home on January 12. He was admitted to a hospital after vomiting. He was then shifted to RIMS-Adilabad where he died on Sunday.
