Adilabad: Rythu Swarajya Vedika district president Sangepu Borranna demanded the State government to immediately extend financial aid of Rs 12,000 per acre to beneficiaries of Rythu Bharosa scheme without imposing any restrictions as promised at the time of polls.
Addressing the media in Indervelli mandal centre on Monday, Borranna regretted that farmers of the district were distressed by the inordinate delay in extending the crop investment support under the scheme since the last Vanakalam season. The district has 1.63 lakh farmers. Of them, 1 lakh farmers got the aid. Still, 62,978 farmers have not benefitted by the initiative. Similarly, crop loans of 27,432 farmers were not waived off.
The government failed to provide clarity in implementation of Rythu Bharosa and crop loan waiver, as a result of which farmers were reeling under a severe financial crisis. They were unable to make profits in farming. Some distressed farmers ended lives in the district, reflecting the crisis in the agriculture sector, he said.
