Currently, there are, in total, 163 liquor shops in the erstwhile Adilabad district for the year 2019-21. The quantum of the outlets increased to 192, translating into a rise of 15 percent. The Nirmal district will have 10 new outlets, while Adilabad district got 9 shops. Six new shops were allotted to Kumram Bheem Asifabad district and four have been created in Mancherial district, as per information available with authorities of Prohibition and Excise department.
With the addition of new liquor shops, Adilabad district has now 40 outlets. Mancherial accounts for 73 shops while Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts will have 47 and 32 outlets, respectively. Mandals, which were created under reorganisation of the districts, are now going to have two wine shops each. Mandals that register higher income will have shops apart from the villages that see considerable sales. A total of 12 shops were allotted to members of Gouda community while 24 outlets were earmarked for Scheduled Communities and 19 shops were reserved for Scheduled Tribes. As many as 135 shops have been kept aside for open category.
