Adilabad: Superintendent of Police D Uday Kumar Reddy said that the Police Department was extending all benefits to home guards on par with police constables. He handed over a cheque of Rs 30 lakh to the kin of a home guard here on Monday.
The quantum of financial aid was given for the first time in Telangana. Uday Kumar Reddy said home guards were being insured following the efforts of Director General of Police (welfare) Umesh Sharaf, Inspector General (Home Guards) Vikram Singh Mann and Home Guard Commandant IRS Murthy. He thanked the top IPS officers for ensuring better benefits to the kin of home guards.
The superintendent further opined that the home guard Enangandule Satyanarayana, who was killed in a road mishap on November 16, would live in the hearts of policemen of the district forever. He said that the home guards were rendering services on par with constables and they deserve benefits on the lines of the constables.
He added that the monetary support would bring respite to the bereaved families.
