Communal conflicts were once confined to Bhainsa town in Nirmal district. However, of late they are spreading to Adilabad, Nirmal district headquarters and Kaghaznagar town in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. This can be attributed to attempts to polarize sections of the society by certain political parties.

Of late, both Adilabad and Nirmal towns are seeing communal conflicts at least once in a year. As many as 40 members of two communities were booked for allegedly unauthorised gathering, promoting enmity between different groups, public nuisance and at Kranthinagar in Adilabad town On May 5.

A large number of people belonging to a community gathered at a crossroad in Kranthinagar when the base of a flagpole was demolished by civic authorities for constructing it without obtaining permission. Meanwhile, members of another community too reached the spot. The two sides raised slogans against each other, resulting in a mild tension for a while.

Fourteen persons belonging to different parts of the town were apprehended for their alleged role in the attempt to murder and damaging of a fruit juice centre resulting in a conflict between two communities occurred in Kaghaznagar on October 14. Police said some more accused persons who were involved in the clashes would be taken into custody soon.

Six cases were booked against the protesters who allegedly torched commercial establishments during the protest in Jainoor mandal centre in this district on September 4. Accordingly, 35 persons have been apprehended for their role in the communal conflict so far.

Tribals set commercial establishments of a section, a house of belonging to an accused person on fire and pelted stones on places of worship as part of a bandh call given by tribal rights organisations demanding action against an auto-rickshaw driver who allegedly attempt to rape and murder a tribal woman.
