Adilabad police return 109 lost mobile phones to owners

Adilabad: Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan urged the public to immediately report any lost or stolen mobile phones on the Union government’s dedicated portal, https://www.ceir.gov.in. He handed over 109 mobile phones, recovered through the portal and a special recovery team of the district police, to their owners at a programme held here on Saturday.
The SP advised phone users to promptly lodge a report on the portal in the event their devices go missing. He said that since 2023, as many as 900 mobile phones have been recovered using the portal and with the support of the district police’s recovery team. Several of the phones were traced to Maharashtra and Haryana, he added, noting that the recovery effort is an ongoing process.
He also cautioned mobile repair shop owners to verify the consent of phone owners before undertaking repairs. Strict action would be taken against those found purchasing mobile phones without valid documents, he warned. Victims of mobile theft or loss were advised to approach the local police station for assistance.
