Adilabad reports 12 cyber frauds in a week, SP cautions public
Adilabad district has reported 12 cyber fraud cases in the past week, prompting SP Akhil Mahajan to caution the public against online scams. He urged residents to report incidents to the toll‑free number 1930.
Adilabad: SP Akhil Mahajan advised the public to be aware of cyber crimes with the district reporting 12 cyber frauds over the last week.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Akhil Mahajan said that the cyber fraudsters across the country were using various methods to deceive gullible people. He stated that there were more chances of committing cyber crime through social media platforms in the present society.
He stated that cyber criminals were siphoning off money from bank accounts by sending APK files and unknown links on WhatsApp and Telegram.
The SP cautioned that unemployed youth would be targeted by the criminals under the guise of work from home and employment opportunities. He stated that the criminals would ask for amounts and then dupe the job seekers. He said that every business advertisement on social media platforms should be treated with caution.
The district police chief stated that personnel under the name of Khaki Kids would be visiting schools and colleges to create awareness among the people.
He advised the public to be vigilant of the fraudsters. He requested people to report cyber crimes on toll free number 1930. A fraudster duped a man of Rs 55,000 in a phased manner luring him with a placement, he cited.
