Adilabad: Thodasam Kailash, a government teacher from the district, has been selected for conferring the Governor Award for Excellence-2025 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to preserve the Gondi language under the tribal development category. He was among four individuals picked for the award, according to a press communiqué released from the office of the governor on Friday.
Kailash will receive a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a citation from the governor at a programme to be held at Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad on January 26. He is known for singing songs in Kolami, Gondi, Hindi and English using artificial intelligence. He was invited to grace the At Home reception hosted by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, 2025.
The teacher was lauded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for crooning songs during the Mann Ki Baat programme aired on All India Radio recently. To his credit, he authored the Hindu epic Mahabharat in the Gondi language in 2024. He currently works at a school in Gourapur village in Indervelli mandal.
