Adilabad: Three persons including a couple from Maharashtra were arrested on the charges of human trafficking here on Saturday. Police seized a mobile phone and Rs 2,000 in cash from them. A minor tribal girl was rescued and was handed over to her parents.
Briefing details of the arrest, Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said that Karan alias Bhagavath Menon from Rajasthan, Bapunya Rajarajam Athram and his wife Nirmala, both from Kinhi village in Ghatanji Tehsil of Yavatmal district were apprehended for selling the minor tribal girl to a youngster from Rajasthan for Rs 10,000.
During the interrogations, Rajaram and Nirmala confessed to human trafficking to earn money. They admitted to luring the innocent girl and abducting her when she was alone on June 2.
They revealed that they initially took her to Kinhi and then to Rajasthan after handing her over to Karan who paid Rs 10,000. Karan admitted to raping her several times by confining her to a house in Rajasthan.
The victim’s parents lodged a missing complaint with Bheempur police who launched a search for the girl. Upon learning this, the couple brought the girl from Rajasthan and dropped her in Adilabad town on June 23. They were detained while fleeing in Adilabad railway station, following a tip-off.
