Adilabad: A tribal girl student, who was not allowed to enter her village after she tested positive for Covid-19, finally reached home following the intervention of Kumra Eshwaribai, a member of Telangana Women’s Commission at Saleguda hamlet under Tejapur village in Indervelli mandal on Tuesday.
Madavi Son Devi, who was infected by the virus while at college, was allegedly forced to stay in her agriculture field when residents of the village did not let her into the village. On learning about the incident, Eshwaribai visited the student in the field. She ensured that Son Devi reached home after persuading the locals. She also asked the girl to consult a doctor.
Speaking to pressmen, Son Devi, however, refuted reports that she was not allowed to enter the village by the residents. She said she was helping her parents in protecting their jowar crop by following Covid-19 guidelines instead of staying alone at home. She added that a local medical officer was constantly monitoring her health condition.
