Adilabad: Under the aegis of Tudum Debba, a tribal rights organisation, a large number of Adivasis laid siege to the office of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Utnoor, demanding that authorities concerned extend support to tribals who were affected by recent rains coupled with gales at Mallapur village in Indervelli mandal, on Monday.

The tribals submitted a representation to ITDA Project Officer Bhavesh Misra narrating their demands. They wanted groceries required for six months to the affected families of the village. They demanded compensation of Rs 1 lakh to each family, provision of fertiliser to farmers and to grant double-bedroom houses to every household.

The Adavis led by leaders of Tudum Debba arrived at Utnoor mandal centre using different means of transit. They staged a demonstration in front of the office of ITDA titled Kumram Bheem complex. They carried banners and raised slogans against officials of the agency for failing to support the tribals belonging to the village. They were also seen playing traditional musical instruments.

In the meantime, a large contingent of police force was deployed at the office to prevent untoward incidents. Utnoor DSP Uday Reddy supervised the bandobust. No violent incidents reported during the protest.
