Adilabad: MLAs belonging to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party staged a protest against the Union government’s decision to not to procure paddy produced in Yasangi season, across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Monday.
Forest minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy expressed anger over the Union government’s move. He opined that the Centre was showing stubborn attitude when it comes to procurement of the paddy produce. He rebuked it for deciding to not buy the produce for the first time in the history of the country. He stated that farmers would teach a lesson in the forthcoming elections.
MLA Jogu Ramanna along with cadres of the party staged a dharna in Adilabad district centre. He flayed the Centre over its disinterest to buy the paddy produce from the farmers. He said that the Union government was adopting anti-farmer policies and was causing losses to the agrarian community of the country. He demanded it to procure the grains produced in the Yasangi season.
In the meantime, Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao criticized the Centre for not procuring the paddy. He said that the Union was irresponsible and was least concerned for farmers. He took part in the protests and rallies held at Seetharampalli village in Naspur, Rapalli village in Hajipur mandal, at IB Chowk in Mancherial district headquarters.
Activists of TRS party burned effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Pembi mandal centre as part of the state-wide protest called by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. They raised slogans against the Union government and Modi for causing inconvenience and losses to farmers by denying the procurement.
