Adilabad’s wildlife photographer spots rare snake eagle

Krishna said he shot pictures of the rare bird when he went to the deep forests of Kosai village to look for avian community in the district.

Adilabad: Lingampalli Krishna, a budding wildlife photographer from the district, spotted a rare short-toed snake eagle in the dense forests of remote Kosai village in Thalamadugu mandal on Thursday.

Krishna said he shot pictures of the rare bird when he went to the deep forests of Kosai village to look for avian community in the district. He stated that the bird was known for eating snakes and rotating its head 200 degrees. Its habitat includes warm, open places with scattered trees, meadows, forest and rocky slopes, he added.


To his credit, the photographer has so far recorded images of bird species including oriental honey buzzard, black winged kite, crested hawk-eagle, black kite, changeable hawk-eagle, white-eye buzzard, shikra- hawk in the forests of Adilabad in the recent past. Krishna is a barber by profession, but developed a passion for wildlife photography and began exploring the avian community of this region.

Krishna recently distributed 500 clay bowls to the general public and sought their help in quenching the thirst of birds in summer.
