Adilabad: While many of us dump empty bottles as garbage, a married woman from this town is breathing new life into them through her creativity and earning an income in the process.

Meet Naitham Bhagyalaxmi of the Housing Board Colony in the district centre. With her remarkable skills, she is transforming discarded bottles and objects into striking works of art by painting images of various Hindu deities, flowers, leaves, and scenes from nature. She is literally converting the waste into beauty, using pencils, vibrant paints and studding pearls and mirrors.

“I developed a passion for bottle art and painting in childhood. I used to sketch with pencils during school and began mehendi designs when I was 10. People may throw away empty wine bottles. But, I see them as precious once their appearance is altered,” Bagyalaxmi told ‘Telangana Today.’

An MA English graduate, she is not only turning the waste into canvas for showcasing her inventive creativity, but also earns by selling the works. She said that she would paint portraits of couples, siblings and family members on the bottles which art lovers purchase for anywhere between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000.
