Hyderabad: Actor Adivi Sesh is the face in the new campaign ‘Chicks Love a Vegetarian’ of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals India (PETA India).
The PETA campaign featuring Adivi Sesh, who starred in leading roles in movies like ‘Major’, ‘Goodachari’ and the recent ‘Dacoit’, was released on the occasion of the upcoming World Environment Day, which falls on June 5.
“When you look into the eyes of a chicken, it’s easy to see that these are thinking, feeling beings who experience fear and love just like we do, and they don’t want to die,” says Adivi, in a press release.
The actor said “I don’t want to add more suffering to this world. That’s why I choose compassion with every meal by leaving animals off my plate.”
According to PETA, chickens form complex social structures, dream when they sleep, and worry about the future, just as humans do. But in the meat industry, they’re kept in cramped, filthy conditions and killed when they’re just babies by having their throats slit while they’re still conscious.
Every person who goes meat-free helps spare animals from daily suffering and a terrifying death, dramatically shrinks their food-related carbon footprint, and slashes their risk of developing heart disease and other diet-related illnesses, PETA in the press release added.
