Afghanistan Consulate to conduct food and cultural festival in Hyderabad
To increase trade and cultural exchanges between Telangana and Afghanistan, the Consulate, headed by Consul General Muhammad Suleman Kakar, will host a series of handicraft displays, food displays, musical events, fashion shows and more.

Hyderabad: Come April 1 and Hyderabad is in for a treat as the Afghanistan Consulate in the city is conducting a massive food festival, along with a cultural festival till April 10.
To increase trade and cultural exchanges between Telangana and Afghanistan, the Consulate, headed by Consul General Muhammad Suleman Kakar, will host a series of handicraft displays, food displays, musical events, fashion shows and more.
“There are many ethnic groups with their own lifestyle, fashion, food and culture in Afghanistan. The Hazaras, Uzbeks, Pashtos, etc, each have a unique style of fashion, handicrafts, music, food and more. We plan on utilising this festival as a platform to spread our rich culture and tradition in Telangana,” said Kakar.
According to Charu Das, the director of CD Foundation that is collaborating with the Afghan Consulate for the event, the Afghan fashion is very intricate and diverse. “There is immense diversity in fashion and we also aim at giving visibility to various tribes’ fashion styles,” says Charu. Each of those tribes and ethnic groups also have their unique music as well and the festival will feature a live music session every day.
In addition to the cultural exchange, the festival also aims at increasing trade between Telangana and Afghanistan, as it also features a B2B meeting between dry fruit, tea, handicraft traders of the two places on April 6. Traders can utilise this event for business opportunities with the country.
One of the highlights of this festival is a masterclass on Afghan cuisine by Chef Fariba from Kabul, to be held on April 5.
