Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who has been drawing flak for the State’s business deals with the Adani Group, despite the Congress stance against Adani, will be participating in a protest against Gautam Adani in the city on Wednesday.

The protest is in the wake of Adani’s indictment in a multi-billion dollar bribery and fraud case by the United States Department of Justice. This apart, the Congress is also protesting alleging negligence by Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards North Eastern States, especially Manipur.

As per AICC instructions, the Telangana unit of the Congress is conducting a ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan‘ protest rally on December 18. Along with the Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and senior leaders are slated to participate in the protest.

The participation of Revanth Reddy in the protest assumes significance in the wake of recent developments, when he had tried to justify inking deals with Adani though the Congress, in particular its leader Rahul Gandhi, has been continuing a vociferous protest against Adani, alleging shady deals by him and also that he was hand in gloves with Modi.

After Rahul Gandhi had openly stated that all deals signed by State governments, whether they were ruled by the BJP or Congress or any party, should be investigated for corruption, Revanth Reddy was forced to reject a donation of Rs.100 crore from Adani towards the setting up of the proposed Young India Skill University in Telangana.

The status of multiple deals signed by the Telangana government, including by Revanth Reddy in person with Adani at Davos, is hanging in balance after this.

Though Revanth Reddy had tried to justify the deals, claiming that they were for the cause of development, the same has not gone down well with the party and his stance has been under severe criticism from within the party. It is under these circumstances that he is slated to participate in the protest against Adani.
