Kothagudem: An agriculture officer was caught red-handed by ACB officials while he was accepting a bribe from a person at Chandrugonda in the district on Monday.
The accused, Narlapati Mahesh Chandra Chaterjee, agriculture officer of Chandrugonda mandal, was caught red-handed in the office room of the Agriculture Extension Officer, Rythu Vedika, a statement from ACB said.
Chaterjee allegedly demanded Rs 90,000 from the complainant, Godha Satyam, of Chandrugonda to not inspect the fertilisers and pesticides shops run locally by the complainant and five others and not to trouble them in running their business.
The bribe amount was recovered from the accused, and he was arrested and would be produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Hyderabad.
