Hyderabad: Even as three MLAs took oath as Ministers at Raj Bhavan on Sunday, AICC Telangana incharge Meenakshi Natarajan visited other MLAs who were among the strong aspirants for Cabinet berths, in an attempt to pacify them.
Accompanied by a few leaders, including Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, the AICC incharge called on former Minister Sudarshan Reddy at his residence and held discussions with him.
Sudarshan Reddy was one of the key contenders for a Cabinet post. With his name not featuring among the three MLAs inducted into the Cabinet, he is learnt to have expressed his displeasure.
In response, Natarajan is said to have assured Sudarshan Reddy and tried to convince him about the party’s choices.
Of the 17 Cabinet berths, 11 had already been filled, and with the latest additions, 14 positions are now occupied. Three berths remain vacant, and efforts are underway to pacify the remaining aspirants.
Apart from Sudarshan Reddy, Natarajan is also said to have tried meeting Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy and Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar Rao, who were also strong contenders for Cabinet inclusion.
It remains unclear what assurances were extended to these leaders or what their next course of action will be.
