Hyderabad: AIMIM leaders have started campaigning for Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency.

Led by MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig, party workers are handing over leaflets of Naveen Yadav and asking voters to cast their vote for him. The AIMIM is focusing more on Erragadda and Shaikpet divisions, where its corporator had won in the GHMC elections.

On Saturday, Rahmath Baig, along with a dozen party workers, visited different areas in the Erragadda division and met voters, requesting them to vote for the Congress. In the last few days, AIMIM leaders Yaser Arafath, Anwar Sadath and other local leaders from across the city participated in the campaign.

AIMIM is supporting the Congress in the Jubilee Hills by-elections after its president, Asaduddin Owaisi, had asked the voters of Jubilee Hills to vote for the Congress candidate, saying he was hopeful that Naveen Yadav would solve the pending issues in the constituency. Despite the AIMIM supporting the BRS in the 2018 and 2023 Assembly elections, Owaisi went on to allege that the former MLA, Maganti Gopinath, had not developed the Jubilee Hills constituency and that there were several issues to be solved.

Senior leaders of the party will soon be revisiting the localities in the constituency to intensify their campaign. There are around 1.40 lakh Muslim voters in the constituency and the polling percentage in the minority dominated pockets of the constituency is comparatively high.
