Air India debuts 787-9 Dreamliner with Thales AVANT Up IFE system

Air India has introduced its first 787-9 Dreamliner equipped with Thales’ AVANT Up in-flight entertainment system at Wings India 2026. The advanced IFE offers 4K HDR touchscreens, USB-C and USB-A fast charging, and Bluetooth pairing.

Hyderabad: Air India and Thales on Thursday announced the debut of its new 787-9 aircraft flying with Thales’ AVANT Up in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. The first in the carrier’s order of six new 787-9 aircraft was unveiled at ongoing Wings India 2026.

The IFE system features a catalogue of content showcased on 4K HDR touchscreens, along with 60W USB-C and USB-A fast charging for customer devices,as well as the ability to pair a Bluetooth device.

Air India Chief Customer Experience Officer Rajesh Dogra said by integrating Thales’ cutting-edge AVANT Up system, the airline has enhanced the comfort and entertainment onboard.

“This milestone is a significant step forward in our commitment to leading the future of Indian aviation, offering our customers the best of technology and Indian culture in the sky,” Dogra said.

Thales InFlyt Experience CEO Niels Steenstrup said AVANT Up flying on Air India’s new 787-9 marks a new chapter in the company’s long-standing collaboration.

“Together, we are elevating the standards for entertainment in the sky by combining technology with the warmth of Indian hospitality,” he added.
