Akshara Vaagdevi Int’l: Good response to inter-school art competition

Akshara Vaagdevi International School, in collaboration with Pallavi Group of Schools, conducted an inter-school art competition. This endeavour is to revive the art in these tough times and bring it into the forefront of our lives, through children, and hence “Aavirbhav”, the school said.
The theme for this year’s Aavirbhav was “Unity in Diversity.” A total of five categories were drawn up with five varied themes “Madhubani, Gond, Scroll painting, mural painting and Pattachitra”. Students from over 25 schools participated in the event. The judges’ panel included eminent academicians from Potti Sriramulu Telugu University.

The student council members Anirudh and Mehak took forward the event followed by a welcome note by the academic coordinator Rachana. AVIS principal G Vanajastressed how art is a pedagogical tool essential to facilitate creativity.
Founder and vice-chairman PL Srinivas, directors of Pallavi Group of Schools Murali Krishnan and Sushil shared their insights on art and creativity. Children displayed their natural creative self and basked in the colours of Aavirbhav and were excited to know the winners.
Chief guest Dr. Priti Samyukta pointed out how the National Education Policy brings art to the forefront of schoolwork to help with the creativity of the students. Guest of honour Carmel also pointed out the several different advantages of pursuing art which further accentuated the need for art in the lives of students. Guest of honour Jahnavi, encouraged children to pursue their passion for art and explained on how by being an artist she could serve society.
