Alert locals thwart gang-rape bid on minor girl in Peddapalli
The 16-year-old girl was walking along a railway track with his lover when three youngsters tried to drag the girl into nearby bushes. The girl was rescued by cops after being alerted by locals
Peddapalli: Quick response by locals in informing the police averted what could have been a gang rape of a minor girl in Godavarikhani on Monday night.
According to police, the 16-year-old girl, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Godavarikhani, was in love with Bandi Srikanth of Penchikalpet village. While the girl was studying Class X in a private school, Srikanth was working as a cleaner of a school bus. The two were walking along a railway track at Sanjay Gandhi Nagar of four incline area at around 10 pm when three youngsters tried to drag the girl into nearby bushes. Even as Srikanth protested, she raised an alarm that alerted people living nearby. They immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. On spotting the police, the three youngsters fled from the spot.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl, Godavarikhani town-I police registered a case. It is learnt that the police gave a chase to the youngsters, caught them near eight incline colony and arrested them.
