Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has directed officials to ensure the availability of medicines and oxygen to treat Covid-19 patients in erstwhile Khammam district.
The Minister reviewed the Covid situation, fever survey, vaccination and oxygen availability in Khammam and Kothagudem districts on Monday and said the State government had taken all measures to contain the Covid spread and to treat infected people.
At a meeting in Khammam, he said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has been monitoring the situation in the State daily and soon the strength of doctors would be increased at government hospitals.
District health officials must take steps to see that there is no shortage of testing kits, medicines and oxygen at the hospitals, the Minister said, asking them to bring to his notice in case of any shortages so that he can take it up with the Chief Minister.
Ajay Kumar told the officials to carry out awareness programmes at the village level to educate the masses about precautions to be taken to prevent the Covid spread. Similarly, steps must be taken for vaccinating the eligible public smoothly.
The Minister suggested that the officials concerned take up field-level inspections to monitor the situation and ensure full-scale availability of doctors and staff at all public health facilities. He reminded that Khammam District Hospital had received the Kayakalp award for offering the best services. It is a good development that an oxygen generation plant was set up at the hospital.
Ajay Kumar said Remdesivir vials are available adequately in the district and appreciated Khammam Commissioner of Police Vishnu S Warrier for preventing their black marketing.
In Kothagudem, Ajay Kumar, along with ZP Chairman K Kanakaiah, MLAs V Venkateswar Rao and R Kantha Rao and District Collector MV Reddy held a video conference with the district- and constituency-level officials and asked them to make committed efforts to stop the Covid spread.
