Alia Bhatt backs NEET protesters, calls students’ courage inspiring

Actor Alia Bhatt expressed solidarity with students protesting alleged NEET irregularities, saying their courage and determination inspired hope. Reacting to police action during the Parliament march, she urged the nation to listen to the voices shaping India's future

New Delhi: Last few days have broken my heart and then mended it again and again, actor Alia Bhatt said on Thursday as she voiced her support for students demanding accountability over irregularities in NEET exam.

Referring to the police action against protesting students during their march towards Parliament earlier this week, Bhatt said she was heartbroken, but inspired by their courage and determination.

“The last few days have broken my heart and then mended it, again and again, with hope. Behind every student standing their ground is a dream, a family’s hope, a journey of countless sacrifices. They represent not just themselves but everyone who has supported them, while creating a better path for those who will come after them,” the actor wrote on Instagram.

The “Student of the Year” star wondered if “we are truly listening to the very people who will inherit and shape this country’s tomorrow”. “Their courage humbles me. On Monday, thousands of protesters, mostly students, marched through the national capital as part of the “Chalo Sansad” protest, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the examination system and the NEET paper leak.
