Hyderabad: The powerful act of Alia Bhatt in her intense role as Gangubai, in the outstanding trailer of “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama that has a tightly woven script, is buzzing. Phenomenal in every way, Alia seems to have delivered an unmatchable performance in the movie. The actor’s incredible screen presence took the internet by storm, with many celebrities also heaping praises on her.
Extremely promising – from grandeur expressions, brilliant nuances, outstanding attitude in her body language, expressive tone of her voice, and to jaw-dropping dialogue delivery – the actor has brought in lot of power to her character, grabbed all our attention, and pushes the bar higher for her other contemporaries. The moist she shows in her eyes, her accent and swag in her walk are also super talent stuff that left many in awe of her.
Amazingly impressive and leaving everyone speechless, actor Alia Bhatt looks like a star who has arrived. Her change of expressions in just one scene while uttering the dialogue “Maa ka naam kaafi nahi hai na? Chalo baap ka naam Devanandh”, when she was asked about her father’s name – from being clam to answering it with a smile when provoked with a question – is top notch acting, and an example of brilliant dialogue writing. She also looks spectacular and perfect in all other scenes.
Watch it:
Dialogues of Alia in the spell-binding trailer, and the teaser released much earlier, nothing short of making the movie a masterpiece, are also as supreme as her performance. The pauses she gave while uttering the emotional dialogues are simply wonderful and above everyone’s expectations.
Alia Bhatt’s dialogues from the teaser – “Gangu chaand thi aur chaand hie rahegi”, “Izzat se jeene ka, kisi se darne ka nai, naa police se, naa MLA se, naa mantri se, naa ….., kisi ke baap se nahi darne kaa”, “Poora ka poora China mooh mein ghusayega kya?”and “Zameen pe bathi bahot achchi lag rahi hai tu, aadat daal le, kyunke teri kursi toh gayi” – are just fierce.
The dialogues uttered by other characters in the trailer – “Kehte hai Kamathipura mein kabhi Amavas ki raat nahi hoti ….. kyunki wahan Gangubai rahti hai”, “Lala ko ghar baste huye dekhna pasand hai, ujadte huye nahi” and “Kamathipura Raziyabai ka tha, Kamathipura Raziyabai ka rahega” are intriguing and savage.
In the woman-centric film, Alia Bhatt just lived the role and looks like with her transformation, she is unstoppable in the character of the woman who rose from being a sex-worker in Mumbai’s red-light area Kamathipura to a powerful, loved and respected madam in the city in the 1960s.
The period drama, produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios has been adapted from one of the chapters of author Hussain Zaidi’s book, ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. The film is set to hit the theatres on February 25.
