Mahabubnagar: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said all efforts were being made to develop Koil Sagar into a tourist spot by providing the required amenities for tourists.
The Minister launched boating facility at Koil Sagar here on Thursday in the presence of Deverkadra MLA A Venkateshwar Reddy. Apart from conventional boats, a speed boat was also introduced at the reservoir.
Addressing on the occasion, the Minister said despite picturesque locations and provision to launch boating facility at Koil Sagar, previous governments sidelined the tourism development works at the reservoir.
By next year, restaurants and cottages would also be constructed here for the convenience of tourists, he said.
As per Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s directions, all measures were being taken up to develop tourism services at Karivena and Uddandhapur reservoirs as part of Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation scheme. Already, action plans were being prepared to take up tourism projects, he said.
After Telangana formation, the popular Ramappa temple bagged the World Heritage site recognition and Pochampally secured the UNWTO Best Tourism Village award. This speaks volume about the Chief Minister’s vision to develop tourism prospects in the State, the Minister said.
Deverkadra MLA A Venkateshwar Reddy said introducing boating facility at Koil Sagar would now provide recreation and rejuvenation facilities for people in the neighbouring constituencies as well.
