Rajanna-Sircilla: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, KT Rama Rao promised to provide new ration cards to all eligible persons across the State. The Minister launched the distribution of new ration cards in a programme held at the Collectorate in Sircilla on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rama Rao made it clear that no State in the country was implementing welfare schemes like Telangana. The State government was working with a commitment for the development of the people.
Informing that 2,777 ration cards would be distributed in the district, the Minister assured to provide cards to all eligible poor.
Earlier, Rama Rao inaugurated a CT scan center established in the district headquarters hospital by spending Rs 2.15 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said in order to provide quality treatment to people, the latest equipment was established in the hospital.
Instead of going to other places for treatment, the new facility would help the people to get treatment in Sircilla itself, he said and advised the people to utilize the facility. Vemulawada MLA Ch Ramesh Babu, TSCAB Chairman Koduru Ravinder Rao, ZP Chairperson Nyalakonda Aruna, District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar, Additional Collector (local bodies) B Satyaprasad and others participated in the programmes.
Agri officers told to conduct awareness programmes
Rama Rao instructed agriculture extension officers to organise awareness programmes at Rythu Vedikas to educate farmers about oil farming as well as profitable traditional and non-traditional cropping patterns.
Farmers should be educated through the scientists of Krushi Vignana Kendrams under DCMS, Minister instructed officials while conducting a review meeting here on Monday. Earlier, people used to face severe hardships for drinking and irrigable water and power. However, there was no such situation in the State, he said.
Drinking water problem was solved with the Mission Bhagiratha scheme taken up by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, he said and directed officials to complete pending Mission Bhagiratha works. He also wanted the district officials to take steps to start JNTU engineering classes from this academic year.
Asking officials to make arrangements to run classes in Agraharam Degree College on a temporary basis, Rao instructed revenue officials to identify land for construction of a permanent college building. The Chief Minister has assured to sanction a medical college to Sircilla in the next phase, he said.
Both Sircilla and Vemulawada towns would be developed as twin cities in the coming days, Minister said and wanted the municipal officials to develop model colonies in both the towns by identifying government lands. Ramappagutta area located near the backwaters of Mid Manair reservoir would be developed as a tourism spot and wanted the officials to examine the proposal to develop a bridge between Ramappatutta to Nampalligutta. Local youth would get employment with the establishment of food processing zone.
Rao instructed Irrigation Department officials to fill all 665 tanks with the water of Upper Manair, Mid Manair and Annapurna reservoirs. When officials were informed that 165 tanks were already filled, Minister directed officials to fill all remaining water bodies.
Rao wanted the officials to complete 24 under construction check dams. The Minister also wanted the officials to complete the 6,000 under construction double bedroom houses in the district.
