All set for KMC Mayor, Dy Mayor election

Khammam: District administration has made all arrangements to hold elections to Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts.
In a statement here on Thursday, District Collector, RV Karnan informed that Additional Collector, N Madhusudhan had been appointed as Presiding Officer for conducting the election on Friday at the KMC council meeting hall.
The Collector along with Municipal Commissioner, Anurag Jayanthi and ACP, Prasanna Kumar inspected the meeting hall on Wednesday and reviewed the arrangements. He directed the officials to strictly adhere to the covid norms while conducting the elections.
He said tight security arrangements would be in place for conducting the election in a peaceful manner and everyone must wear face masks or face guards, use sanitisers and maintain physical distance during the election.
Meanwhile, Roads and Buildings Minister, V Prashanth Reddy and TRS leader N Naresh Reddy who were appointed as the election observers by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao arrived in Khammam to monitor the election process.
As per the directions of the Chief Minister election process would be conducted in a disciplined manner with the names handed over by the party high command in the sealed covers in the presence of newly elected corporators and people’s representatives, they said.
It might be noted that the State Election Commission has allowed the corporators and legislators, who have the voting right and were tested positive for the covid-19 and were in home quarantine to vote in the election through video call.
