Hyderabad: The allocation of Remdesivir injections for Covid positive patients in Telangana has continued to improve with Union Health Ministry on Sunday setting aside 2.15 lakh injections for the State between April 21 and May 23.

The increased allocation is expected to improve the availability of Remdesivir injections for moderate Covid positive patients. Earlier, in the second phase, the Centre had allocated 1.45 lakh Remdesivir to Telangana till May 16, which has been enhanced to 2.15 lakh on Sunday.

In the month of April, the Union Ministry of Pharmaceutical and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had allocated 21,500 injections and later enhanced the allocation to about 41,500 injections.

Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, DV Sadananda Gowda, who oversees the allocation of drugs, on Sunday said that ‘Substantial increase has been made in overall production and allocation after considering the requirement of Remdesivir in various states across the country. This will ensure adequate availability to patients”.

With the improvement in availability of certain drugs, the Union Health Ministry also had allocated an additional 45,000 vials of Tocilizumab to meet the demand across the State.
