Hyderabad: The court proceedings in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case were held before the Nampally Criminal Court on Monday, with actor Allu Arjun remaining absent from the hearing.
While all other suspects appeared before the court, Allu Arjun neither attended in person nor joined the proceedings virtually. His counsel submitted an absence petition, following which the court directed the defence to file a memo explaining the reasons for his non-appearance.
The actor, who has been named as Accused No. 11 (A-11) in the case related to the stampede outside Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule, had earlier sought permission to appear through video conference.
The court adjourned the matter to July 6 for further hearing. During the proceedings, Allu Arjun’s lawyer informed the court that the actor is expected to attend the next hearing virtually.
The case is related to the fatal stampede that occurred during the film’s premiere in December 2024, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to several others. The trial proceedings are set to continue at the next hearing.
