Amaravati: PRC Sadhana Samiti leaders on Wednesday took exception to the attitude of teachers’ associations who criticised the agreement reached with the AP government.

If the Samiti talks with the government were not acceptable, the teachers’ associations could have continued the strike, they opined, and suspected the hand of `some forces’ behind their criticism of the government. If there was information that political cadre would attack in the garb of teachers, appropriate action could be taken on them, they felt.

President of Secretariat employees’ association Venkatrami Reddy expressed surprise that the teachers’ representatives who were present during talks throughout, were now alleging that they were not allowed to speak out and that they were unhappy with the fitment. “The fitment issue was taken up first during the talks and when the ministers clarified their stand, they could have just walked out. But they didn’t and even stated that barring fitment, all other demands were achieved and agreed to call off the strike proposal.

We are also unhappy over fitment. But when compared to other issues, it was a minor one. Some people are keen to go on strike and launched adverse campaign in the social media due to frustration. We appeal to the government to identify those who behaved irresponsibly and take action on them,” he stated.
