Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the greenfield capital city of Amaravati should be built as an “inclusive” hub where people from across the state can live and work together.

He emphasised that Amaravati was being developed as a “world-class city” that would serve as the driving force of Andhra Pradesh’s future economic growth.

“The integrated master plan for Amaravati should be designed as an inclusive capital city where people from all parts of the state can come to work and live together,” Naidu said in a press release.

Reviewing the progress of the Amaravati 2.0 integrated master plan and the Land Pooling Scheme with senior officials and representatives from Singapore, the CM stressed the need to strengthen the greenfield capital’s economy to create large-scale employment opportunities.

Farmers offering land under the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Land Pooling Scheme Rules will be entitled to residential plots of up to 1,000 sq yards and commercial plots of up to 450 sq yards, along with other financial and social benefits.

Naidu said the greenfield capital was being developed into an “international-standard city” with well-planned inner and outer ring roads.

During the meeting, the Singapore team presented the project’s scope, implementation strategy and action plan, the press release said.

The team informed the CM that the plan covers area development, infrastructure planning and investment models.

Naidu further said that Amaravati should evolve into a “creative city with a strong economic base.” He said the government’s goal was to achieve global benchmarks and one of the highest per capita income levels through sustainable and innovation-driven development.

The CM added that Amaravati was being planned with a strong focus on environmental sustainability through the adoption of green energy and green building practices.

Referring to the state’s water resources, Naidu said the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme had ensured the transfer of Godavari River water to the Krishna River despite challenges posed by El Nino conditions, making the capital region water-secure and resource-rich, the release added.
