Hyderabad: American Telugu Association (ATA) has scheduled a series of events in both Telugu States as part of the ATA Seva Days & Vedukalu for three weeks starting on Sunday. Various events are being conducted till December 26 as a precursor to the 17th ATA Conference and Youth Convention which is scheduled to be held in Washington, US, from July 1 to 3, 2022.
The various programmes being organised include school improvement projects, distribution of computers, school bags and sports equipment to students, according to a press release.
Health camps including cancer screening for women, preventive care for adolescent girls and vision camps which include providing free eyeglasses and surgery for those in need are being conducted as part of the Seva days in several villages. To assist needy women to be self-sufficient, the ATA is also conducting skill development programmes in Warangal and Hyderabad, it said.
ATA is also conducting business and education seminars in both Telugu states. On December 11, the ATA is hosting an international Telugu Literary Conference at Best Western Ashoka Hotel. This event includes several segments hosted by renowned writers, poets and screenwriters. As part of the cultural events, the ATA is hosting a musical extravaganza in honour of Annamayya, Ramadasu and Tyagaraja in Warangal on December 13. The ATA is also hosting a cultural programme in Tirupati on December 18, the press release added.
A grand finale which includes presentation of cultural programmes and award ceremonies will be held at Ravindra Bharathi on December 26.
The ATA team who currently include president Bhuvanesh Boojala, president-elect and chair of ATA Seva Days & Vedukalu Madhu Bommineni, co-chairs Anil Boddireddy and Sharath Vemula, convener Sudhir Bandaru, joint secretary Ramakrishna Ala, board members Sharada Singireddy, Tirupathi Reddy Yerramreddy, Hari Damera, past president Karun Asireddy and Goutham Goli.
