Tirupati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday directed the Central ministries concerned to prepare an action plan within a month for division of assets between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in accordance with the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

The Home Minister gave this directive on plea made by AP Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at the 29th Southern Zonal Council meeting here.

Amit Shah, however, was silent on the Chief Minister’s plea for grant of Special Category Status to the State, official sources who attended the meeting said.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister asked the Centre to complete the legal division of assets valued approximately at Rs 1,42,601 crore, as listed in Schedules 9 and 10 of the APRA, 2014.

The Home Minister also agreed to bear full cost for establishing a state-of-the-art Greyhounds Training Centre in Visakhapatnam district. He wanted the State government to allot suitable land for that.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali said that the Telangana Government would discuss few residual issues with the Andhra Pradesh Government, which were pending in courts and other forums and sort them out in an amicable manner.

Representing the State at the Southern Zonal Council meeting, he said that formation of a new State brings to the fore certain issues related to division of employees, assets and liabilities of the Government and other institutions. Telangana was working diligently with the successor State of Andhra Pradesh to sort out these issues within the framework provided by the AP Reorganisation Act, he said adding “We have successfully divided more than 10 lakh employees in a timely and transparent manne.”

“I will make oral submissions against each of the agenda items, which are relevant to Telangana. This would be followed up with detailed written submissions, which may be taken on record as the views of my State,” he said. All the matters, which are on the agenda, were of tremendous importance. Telangana has taken a multitude of measures to improve the farm sector, enabling increase in farmer’s income, he added.

In 2014, Telangana had hosted the standing committee of the Southern Zonal Council meeting in Hyderabad within seven months of formation of the State, he said.
