Anahat Singh makes winning start at Qatar Classic

Indian squash player Anahat Singh made a strong start at the Qatar Classic, defeating higher-ranked Egyptian Farida Mohamed in four games. The world No. 20 will next face Belgium’s Tinne Gilis, ranked ninth, in the PSA Platinum event

New Delhi: Women’s world No. 20 Anahat Singh got the better of higher-ranked Egyptian Farida Mohamed in four games in the opening round of the USD 242,000 Qatar Classic, the season’s first PSA Platinum event, here on Saturday.

Fresh from becoming the world junior squash champion in July, the teenager beat world No. 16 Farida 13-11 3-11 11-7 11-7. She will next play Belgium’s world No. 9 Tinne Gilis.
