Anantapuram: Police have nabbed a criminal who was said to have been spurred by the movie Dandupalyam, committed a ghastly murder.
A teacher, Usha Rani, was murdered in Kadiri in the district on November 11 last year and police, after interrogating about 5,000 persons in the case, finally zeroed in on Shafiulla of Kadiri as the one who committed the murder.
Superintendent of Police Fakirappa said that Shafi had indulged in the offence after watching the movie Dandypalyam and legal action would taken on the film unit to prevent recurrence of such crimes.
As much as 58 tolas of gold, and Rs.97,000 in cash was recovered from the accused.
Eight special teams were launched to search in five states for the criminal. Over one lakh phone calls were examined and 5,000 suspected were interrogated to bust the case, he revealed.
