ANBAI honours obstetrician Dr Geeta Kolar

Hyderabad: The Association of National Board Accredited Institutions (ANBAI), Telangana (TS) and Andhra Pradesh (AP) honoured senior obstetrician and Director, Department of Foetal Medicine, Fernandez Hospital, Dr Geeta Kolar, recognising the doctor’s contribution to medical education in the two Telugu speaking States.
The award ceremony was held as part of the distinguished Teachers Day event and was presided over by the ANBAI (AP & TS) president Prof Dr B Balaraju and General Secretary Dr Suresh Surapaneni.
Dr Geeta is well-known in the field of obstetrics and foetal medicine with over 30-years of experience in Telangana and AP. The senior obstetrician is a product of Osmania Medical College and completed her PG level course DGO (diploma in gynaecology and obstetrics) in 1987.
She was one of the first doctors to join Fernandez Hospital and established the Foetal Medicine department in the hospital in 1998 at a time when the field was only beginning to emerge, a press release said. The department established by Dr Geeta deals with the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders in the foetus and it trains doctors and offers fellowships in Foetal Medicine.
Vice chancellor, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, Dr B Karunakar Reddy, who presented the award to Dr Geeta Kolar, and other senior doctors were present.
