Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday dismissed the Andhra Pradesh government’s order appointing Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju as chairperson of MANSAS and Simhachalam Devasthanam and directed reappointment of former Union minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju as their chairman.
The state government had appointed Sanchaita as chairperson of Maharaja Alak Narayana Society of Arts and Science and also the Simhachalam Devasthanam in March last year, replacing Ashok Gajapathi Raju who was serving as the hereditary trustee of the organisations.
Piqued by the decision, Ashok Gajapathi Raju approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court contending that only the eldest in the family had the right to hold the posts and the GO was issued in violation of the norms.
The High Court which admitted his petition and heard the arguments of both the disease, on Monday ordered that Ashok Gajapathi Raju be restored to the post of chairman in the MANSAS and Simhachalam Devasthanam trust boards.
