Andhra Pradesh: Road accident claims 14 lives in Kurnool
Fourteen members of a family on a pilgrimage died and four others injured when their vehicle jumped over the road divider and collided with a truck in Kurnool district on Hyderabad - Bengaluru national highway
14 died and four injured in road accident near Kurnool
Hyderabad: Fourteen persons died and four others critically injured in a horrific road accident reported from nea Madapuram village of Veldurthi mandal in Kurnool district, about 250 kilometers from here in the early hours of Sunday. The injured have been shifted to the Government hospital in Kurnool.
The ill-fated tempo in which the victims were travelling jumped over the traffic segregator on the Hyderabad – Bengaluru highway and collided headon with an oncoming truck. There were 18 passengers in the tempo which was on its way to a dargah in Ajmer of Rajasthan. There were 18 passengers in the truck and they hailed from Madanapalle of Chittoor district and were on a pilgrimage. Only four children survived the accident.
The deceased persons included eight women, five men and one child, all belonging to one family. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy expressed his shock over the incident and asked officials to extend all possible help to the victims’ families and better treatment for the injured.
