Vijayawada: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested John Moses, an Amaravati Division CGST Superintendent in Vijayawada, while he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.8,000 from a complainant.

It booked a case against Moses on allegations of demanding bribe from the complainant who alleged that he intended to get his shop registered with GST and applied for registration of his shop with the GST department in Vijayawada.

The GST Superintendent demanded a bribe of Rs.10,000 for giving registration certificate for his shop. During negotiations, Moses reduced the bribe to Rs.8,000. The CBI then laid a trap and caught Moses while demanding and accepting the bribe. The CBI also conducted searches at the office and residential premises of Moses in Vijayawada resulting in recovery of certain incriminating documents.

The arrested person was produced before the competent court and remanded to judicial custody.
