Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu announces salary relief for government employees

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has agreed to constitute the 12th Pay Revision Commission and clear two pending Dearness Allowances from October 2026. The measures, along with other employee and pension benefits, will cost the exchequer Rs 2,880 crore annually

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday took several key decisions to resolve the pending salary-related issues of government employees, including agreeing to constitute the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), which will cost the exchequer Rs 2,880 crore per annum.

The Chief Minister’s decisions came in the wake of government employees’ unions demanding the resolution of pending issues, including the PRC and Dearness Allowance (DA).


“CM Naidu announced several sops to resolve pending issues of government employees… Agreement to constitute the 12th PRC. Payment of two pending DAs from October 1, 2026. Release of DAs due from July 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025,” an official release said.

Likewise, Naidu agreed to credit the surrender leave amount pertaining to 2022 to employees’ accounts by the coming Sankranti festival.

Payment of one additional surrender leave to police personnel during the upcoming Dasara festival will also be made, he said, adding that an additional quantum of pension will be implemented from January 2027.

The TDP supremo promised to pay an additional 10 per cent pension to pensioners above 70 years of age and 15 per cent to those over 75 years, the release said.

Similarly, the Chief Minister assured that the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) would be streamlined, promising that from October onwards, the government would make monthly payments to the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust.

“The decisions announced by the Chief Minister will entail an additional annual expenditure of Rs 2,880 crore to the government exchequer. The CM reiterated that the government would continue to work towards the welfare and well-being of its employees while taking practical steps to resolve their issues,” the release said.

Moreover, Naidu underscored that employees are an integral part of the administration and that the government would always extend support to them, it added.
