Visakhapatnam: CPM state general secretary P Madhu has made a fervent appeal to the public to extend support to the one-day protest against price rise of petrol, diesel and essential commodities on October 28.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, he ridiculed the remarks of a BJP leader in Assam that petrol would go up to Rs.200 per litre and suggested plans to carry three persons on two-wheelers. The BJP misrule could take the prie up to Rs.130 a litre in another week’s time which was why the protest was proposed.
Appreciating the decision of Jana Sena Party president and film star Pawan Kalyan to support the agitation against privatisation of Visakhapatnam steel plant despite JSP’s alliance with the BJP, he faulted the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party for failing to protect the interests of the state. While the TDP supremo went to Delhi to seek President’s rule in Andhra Pradesh, the ruling party talked of release of Krishna waters without pressing for implementation of bifurcation promises, he pointed out.
