Andhra Pradesh: Man buys donkey cart after hike in petrol price
And the credit for this goes to Suresh, a washerman who bought a donkey and started moving on the streets on it when the price of petrol touched Rs. 100 per litre.
Hyderabad: Rayadurgam, a town in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur District, is seeing a sudden rise in the demand for donkeys.
And the credit for this goes to Suresh, a washerman who bought a donkey and started moving on the streets on it when the price of petrol touched Rs. 100 per litre. This turned into a trend in the town.
He used to travel around 50 km every day on his TVS XL 100 to collect and deliver clothes. He had to spend almost his entire earning in a day on a litre of petrol. This troubled him to the extent where he bought a donkey and started plying on the streets. He invested in a donkey and cart for Rs. 26,000.
Taking a cue from Suresh’s idea, other local washermen too are now joining the trend. The washermen community in the town is appealing to the State government to make provision for the procurement of donkeys at reasonable prices.
