Vijayawada: Sexual harassment allegedly by a Telugu Desam Party leader has led to suicide of a school girl who jumped from a highrise apartment in Kummaripalem Centre of Vidyadharapuram here on Saturday.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Hanumantha Rao, the minor girl, a student of ninth class of a school near Benz Circle here, had left a suicide not saying that harassment by TDP leader Vinod Jain had made her take the extreme step. A case was registered on a complaint from the girl’s parents and investigation had begun after taking the accused and his family members into custody, he said here on Sunday.
Endowments minister Vellampalli Srinivas said that the minor girl was sexually harassed by the accused for the past couple of months. That she had left a three-page suicide note reflects the ordeal she underwent, and the agony of the girl’s parents is heart-rending, he stated, and assured the victim’s family of all government help.
