Rajahmundry District Collector P. Prasanthi stated that due to the Godavari River’s high water levels, residents along the riverbanks have been alerted. Irrigation officials are releasing 13 lakh cusecs of water downstream. People have been advised not to bathe in the river, and fishermen have been warned not to venture into the river.

Heavy rain persisted for a second day on Monday in the undivided districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East, and West Godavari, flooding roads and agricultural fields. Overflowing rivulets, streams, lakes, and irrigation tanks submerged low-lying areas, isolating dozens of villages.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that the depression is moving northward, impacting northern Andhra Pradesh and northeastern Telangana. Heavy rainfall is forecasted to continue in the region until September 11.
